Helen’s début poetry collection A Landscape To Figure In was published by Red Squirrel Press in November 2021 and selected for Scottish Book Trust / Creative Scotland Debut Lab 2022
She has poems published in literary magazines including: Gutter, The Interpreter’s House, Northwords Now, Southlight, Poetry Scotland, Mslexia, Butcher’s Dog, Lighthouse, The Eildon Tree, The Blue Nib; online poetry journals and sites including: Antiphon, Atrium, Dangerous Women, New Boots and Pantisocracies, and Ink, Sweat and Tears; and anthologies including: New Writing Scotland, Valley Press Anthology of Yorkshire Poetry, and Umbrellas of Edinburgh. Her poems have also recently featured in anthologies to mark the centenaries of Edwin Morgan’s and George Mackay Brown’s births, the 700th anniversary of the Declaration of Arbroath, the relationship of geology and poetry, and the Covid-19 era. She also makes place-specific work and collaborates with visual artists.
As well as print, her work spans digital, exhibition and performance formats, and has featured at festivals including StAnza, SMHAF, Pittenweem and Push the Boat Out.
She has curated poetry walks for organisations and events including Refugee Survival Trust, Scottish Centre for Geopoetics, Care for Carers, and for the centenary of Wilfred Owen’s excursions to the Pentlands with Craiglockhart Field Club
